Piermont – Piermont Pier

Piermont Pier offers access to feeling like you're out on the river like no other place outside of a boat. Nearly a mile long, you can walk, jog, bike or even drive the 4,000 foot-long pier reaching toward Westchester County.

In the mid-1800s it served as the terminus of the Erie Railroad, where passengers would exchange their train for a boat to New York City. It became known as “Last Stop USA” when, during World War II, about half a million soldiers boarded boats here for Europe.

There’s a playground with a small beach to launch carry-in boats from, a Sunday farmer’s market seasonally in Flywheel Park, and numerous shops and restaurants including Piermont Bicycle Connection, Riverfront Taphouse, Basque Tapas Bar, and the inviting Bunbury’s Coffee Shop to grab something for your stroll. In spring, the many people fishing are likely here for the stripers.

There are kayak and canoe rentals nearby to explore the marshland on the south side of the pier, with two miles of shoreline protected as the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Department of Environmental Conservation, including the mouth of Sparkill Creek.
