\nMike Hays, a cyclist and local history columnist, explores Hopper\u2019s teenage years in the 1890s when he and throngs of men and women embraced the sport for health and transportation. Hays will explore what made Hopper\u2019s own bike special, his early drawings of cyclists, and the artist\u2019s fascination with the popular Madison Square 6-day bicycle races of the 1930s and his painting \u201cFrench Six-Day Bicycle Rider\u201d (1937).
