THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW RIDES AGAIN IN <\/span>THIS <\/span><\/p>\n

CAN<\/span>\u2019<\/span>T MISS<\/span> <\/span>CIRQUE <\/span>PERFORMANCE<\/span> <\/span>STARTING SEPT. 23<\/span><\/p>\n

Washington Irving <\/span>N<\/span>arrates <\/span>S<\/span>tory via <\/span>H<\/span>ologram<\/span> to Commemorate 200 Year Anniversary<\/span><\/p>\n

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. (Sept. <\/span>12<\/span>, 2022<\/span>)<\/span> <\/span>Step back <\/span>in time. It\u2019s the <\/span>1800\u2019s<\/span>, hear the clamoring metal horseshoes click across cobblestone roads in this dark Sleepy Hollow tale. <\/span>The LEGEND\u00a0<\/span><\/a>is a <\/span>simmering adaptation of Washington Irving’s iconic ghost story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow<\/span>.<\/span>” Audiences will be treated to a cirque\/theatre noir production with narration by Washington Irving himself <\/span>\u2013\u00a0<\/span>in hologram form<\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>commemorating<\/span> the 200-year anniversary of, \u201cThe Legend of Sleepy Hollow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The LEGEND is a <\/span>new, <\/span>total <\/span>immersive<\/span> experience with the<\/span> groundbreaking use of holograms <\/span>combined with<\/span> live action circus performers to tell the story. Two years ago, Westchester Circus Arts began exploring <\/span>the <\/span>concept <\/span>of holograms as part of the cirque performance <\/span>with Montreal-based Neweb Labs to find out if the idea was possible. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe invite <\/span>people<\/span> to come see the show as we make history Sept. 23. <\/span>This <\/span>is<\/span> the <\/span>first time that an<\/span> American Circus <\/span>will use a<\/span> hologram <\/span>to portray <\/span>an ‘animal act’ in a circus tent. <\/span>Come out,<\/span> buy <\/span>tickets,<\/span> grab some <\/span>popcorn and tell <\/span>us if our concept<\/span> has come alive<\/span>,\u201d says <\/span>Carlo Pellegrini<\/span> of Westchester Circus Arts,<\/span> creator, producer and writer of <\/span>The LEGEND<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Producing <\/span>The LEGEND<\/span><\/a> <\/span>has been a years-long endeavor by The Village of Sleepy Hollow’s Administrator Anthony Giaccio and the Village’s grant writer Fiona Matthew. Cancelled several times due to the pandemic, <\/span>this project is supported by a grant awarded to the Village of Sleepy Hollow by New York State\u2019s Empire State Development and the I <\/span>\u2764\ufe0f<\/span> NY Division of Tourism under Governor Kathy Hochul\u2019s Regional Economic Development Council Initiative.<\/span> <\/span>The Village re-engaged longtime collaborators <\/span>Westchester Circus Arts<\/span><\/a> to create a show that would celebrate the bicentennial publication of this story, so unique to Sleepy Hollow.<\/span><\/p>\n
