\n\t\tVillage of Hastings-on-Hudson – South County Trailway\n\t<\/h3>\n\t

The South County Trailway is one vital segment – spanning from Yonkers to Greenburgh – of the 45 miles of repurposed trailway following the former the line of the “Old Put” Putnam Division of the New York Central Railroad that ran from 1881-1958 between the Bronx and Putnam County.<\/p>\n

The SCT features 14.1 miles of paved bike and pedestrian path and reminds users to “stay to the right” for safety.<\/p>\n

The portion going through Hastings now enjoys its first ever direct link to the thriving village with the recent completion of a multi-million dollar New York State-funded overhaul of the Ravensdale Road Bridge – turning its two spans into one with widened shoulders and sidewalks for walkers and cyclists – and rehabbing an abandoned bridge just north to serve as part of a new 900-foot long access path connecting the trailway from the 9A and Ravendale Road\/Jackson Avenue intersection.<\/p>\n

The path parallels the Saw Mill River Parkway and Saw Mill River through the shade of trees while passing a trio of sprawling cemeteries.<\/p>\n
