DESCRIPTION:An American Original\nThis year\, The Armour-Stiner Octagon House in Irvington\, New York will commemorate the 250th Anniversary of The United States with a special guided tour: The Octagon House: 1876 Centennial Tour \n100 years before it became a wealthy New York City suburb\, Westchester County was once a lawless “neutral ground” during the height of the American Revolution. In this one-hour guided tour\, visitors will hear a brief history of the 18th Century Odell Farm where The Octagon House now stands. \nAs we enter The Octagon House\, guests experience how New Yorkers of The Gilded Age once celebrated the Nation’s Centennial of 1876. On display throughout the house will be a delightful collection of antique Centennial souvenirs & ephemera. This was a time of great entrepreneurial innovation\, design and manufacturing. The Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia was a magnificent display or wares by the finest manufacturers of the era. \nVisitors will enjoy the ornate interior of The Octagon House\, which is decorated with antique lighting\, furniture\, & objects – many of which appeared at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition.
