SUMMARY:RoCA – 3 Fall Exhibits – Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:UPCOMING SEPTEMBER EXHIBITS\nSeptember 7 – 28\, 2023\nOpening Reception:  September 9th\, 1:00-4:00pm\nFree to the Public\nContemporary Rockland Artists: RoCA Faculty\nEmerson Gallery\nRoCA celebrates its teaching artists who continually inspire students of all ages and skill levels.  The exceptional faculty actively creates\, teaches and exhibits throughout the Hudson Valley\, and all fifty United States.  They are award-winning artists\, professors\, grant recipients\, and artists in residents who share their knowledge and talent with RoCA students. We are proud to showcase these accomplished teachers.\nAbandon Places\nGallery One\nK. Elevitch (she/they) builds on the themes of Abandon Places: Sights Stories and Sound. What is the feeling of home? What marks does it leave? Is home created outside us or from within? These are just some of the questions Nyack\, NY based K. Elevitch explores in this exhibit. Interdisciplinary storytelling\, songwriting\, improvisational performance\, sound design and multi-media installation art. Elevitch turns inside out the process of (be)coming home – both of self and art – revealing quiet yet powerful worlds of universal human being-ness: Intimate glimpses of longing\, isolation\, connection\, freedom\, love.\nThis project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program\, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by ArtsWestchester.”\nPerfectly Imperfect\n Gallery Two\nRoCA’s ceramic students create work inspired by a rare Korean treasure – the ‘Moon Jar’.  Originally created during the latter years of Korea’s Joseon dynasty (1392-1910)\, Moon Jars are primarily white porcelain vessels created from two hemispherical halves\, joined together to form a spherical hollow vessel resembling a full moon.  The imperfect nature of the Moon Jars makes them distinct and uniquely Korean\, as no two jars are exactly alike.  While the moon may or may not be referenced\, the original concept from the Korean culture and                                                                      tradition is revered and respected.\n

SUMMARY:SHADOW WORK WITH MEGHAN MCSWEENEY
DESCRIPTION:Shadow work facilitates a deep and intimate relationship with your core self\, your patterns. These are the woven structures our outward self is created from. It is here that we find the Key to unlock those pieces of ourselves\, but first we must find the Torch so we can reveal what is there waiting to be seen.\nThis two-part class will give you the tools to go deeper and explore your Shadow\, learn how to cut away what doesn’t serve you\, and how to adapt to the changes within.\nEach participant will work with at least one pattern\, and through meditation and visualization\, we will be able to observe\, acknowledge\, accept\, integrate\, and release a personal Shadow or pattern.\nDue to the intimate nature of this work\, there are only 6 places available… please reserve early.

SUMMARY:The Destruction of Riverside Avenue
DESCRIPTION:In September 1960 demolition began on Croton-on-Hudson’s waterfront business district to construct Route 9. Riverside Avenue\, from the intersection with Maple up to Farrington Road\, was rerouted and most of the old buildings demolished. By the time the project was completed\, parts of residential streets from Benedict Boulevard in Harmon up to Wolf Road were also eliminated\, along with the beautiful Beaux Arts-style bridge across the mouth of the Croton River. Village Historian Marc Cheshire will recount the upheaval and loss from this seminal event in Croton’s history. \nThis event is sponsored by Croton Friends of History and will take place in the Ottinger Room of the Croton Free Library. \nCroton Friends of History is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Croton-on-Hudson and the Hudson Valley. SUMMARY:CACAO CEREMONY WITH MASHA
DESCRIPTION:A Cacao Ceremony is a beautiful opportunity to gather in circle\, receive inner guidance\, and connect deeper to ourselves and each other. 100% Pure Ceremonial Grade Cacao is a sacred and ancient plant medicine for the heart that helps us open up\, heal gently\, and invite more creativity\, joy and love into our lives.\nDuring the ceremony we will join in circle\, connect with each other\, learn about the power of Ceremonial Cacao\, talk about the energies of this time\, set intentions and drink Cacao\, go through a guided Shamanic drum journey\, and then come back to a sharing circle of whatever may be opening up for us in that moment. (Sharing is very welcome\, but not mandatory).\nBy setting an intention and drinking Ceremonial Cacao\, participants can expect to receive guidance about whatever they are dealing with and/or receive messages they are ready for.\nLearn more about Masha Zolotarsky at www.freemasha.com
