DESCRIPTION:THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW RIDES AGAIN IN THIS  \nCAN’T MISS CIRQUE PERFORMANCE STARTING SEPT. 23 \nWashington Irving Narrates Story via Hologram to Commemorate 200 Year Anniversary \nSLEEPY HOLLOW\, N.Y. (Sept. 12\, 2022) Step back in time. It’s the 1800’s\, hear the clamoring metal horseshoes click across cobblestone roads in this dark Sleepy Hollow tale. The LEGEND is a simmering adaptation of Washington Irving’s iconic ghost story\, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” Audiences will be treated to a cirque/theatre noir production with narration by Washington Irving himself – in hologram form\, commemorating the 200-year anniversary of\, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” \nThe LEGEND is a new\, total immersive experience with the groundbreaking use of holograms combined with live action circus performers to tell the story. Two years ago\, Westchester Circus Arts began exploring the concept of holograms as part of the cirque performance with Montreal-based Neweb Labs to find out if the idea was possible.  \n“We invite people to come see the show as we make history Sept. 23. This is the first time that an American Circus will use a hologram to portray an ‘animal act’ in a circus tent. Come out\, buy tickets\, grab some popcorn and tell us if our concept has come alive\,” says Carlo Pellegrini of Westchester Circus Arts\, creator\, producer and writer of The LEGEND. \nTickets may be purchased in advance at www.SleepyHollowLegend.com. The show will run from Sept. 23 – Oct. 16\, 2022 in The LEGEND Circus Tent on the East Parcel at 60 Continental Street in Sleepy Hollow\, NY. Showtimes: Fridays\, 7 p.m.; Saturday\, 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.\, and Sundays\, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Shows run for an hour and a half and include an intermission. Tickets are $30 online and $40 at the door. SUMMARY:Revolutionary Walk: Exploring the Battle of Edgars Lane
DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Fred Charles\, Revolutionary Hastings Chair \nNiles Jaeger\, Revolutionary Hastings Vice Chair & Hastings Historical Society Trustee \n  \nLocation of program: Revolutionary Walk in Wagner Park\, at the intersection of Broadway and Warburton Avenue (Parking across the street at Zinsser Park\, Edgar’s Lane & Broadway. Also walkable on the OCA to Edgar’s Lane and turn west down to Broadway.) \n  \nThe Old Croton Aqueduct Trailway connects hikers to historic places in each community it passes through.  This outdoor lecture and short walk explores fresh perspectives on the details and context of a Revolutionary battle site near the OCA trail in Hastings. The gradual slope walk (.02 mi each way) will explore the ravine where a significant part of the battle took place. \n  \nOn September 30\, 1778\, along the old Albany Post Road south of Dobbs Ferry (in today’s Hastings-on-Hudson)\, a combined American force consisting of Continental infantry and cavalry carried out a successful ambush on a marauding Hessian patrol\, killing over 15 and taking many prisoners\, without suffering significant losses themselves. The Battle of Edgar’s Lane was a psychological boost for the Continental Army and its only real victory in the so-called “Neutral Ground” of Westchester County throughout the war.  Fred Charles and Niles Jaeger are part of Revolutionary Hastings\, a committee of the Hastings Historical Society formed to create a place to share this local history within the context of the American Revolution and the people who lived here at that time. \n  \nThis program was organized by the NYS Office of Parks\, Recreation\, and Historic Preservation.
