DESCRIPTION:Perry Lawson Fine Art is pleased to present Hope is the Thing with Feathers\, an exhibition featuring bird-themed artwork by Sharon Falk\, Glenn Goldberg\, Bryn Jayes\, Jackie Shatz\, Mckenna van Koppen\, and Hanna von Goeler. The title is drawn from Emily Dickinson’s poem of the same name\, which serves as a touchstone for the exhibition’s exploration of birds as symbols of hope and resilience. This exhibition pays homage to birds and all they symbolize\, offering a space to reflect on hope as an ever-present force. \nGallery Hours: Friday-Sunday\, 12-5pm\, and by appointment.

SUMMARY:Perry Lawson Fine Art Presents: EMERGING ARTISTS
DESCRIPTION:Perry Lawson Fine Art is pleased to present Emerging Visions\, an exhibition showcasing a diverse range of creative approaches through the work of six early-career artists: Tomas Benincasa Reade\, Taylor Bielecki\, Arabela Gandy\, Evan Jorgensen\, Joshua Paige\, and Karin Yamamoto. Each artist brings a unique perspective\, reflecting the breadth of ideas and practices shaping contemporary art today. \nTomas Benincasa Reade draws inspiration from antiquity\, particularly the art and artifacts of civilizations like the Aztecs and Babylonians. Their works immerse viewers in an enigmatic reality steeped in mythology\, spirituality\, and culture. Similarly\, Benincasa Reade’s creations act as portals to a world unbound by convention or science. Viewers often ask whether his characters are human or alien\, what animals are depicted\, or what real-world inspirations inform the works’ peculiarities. Yet\, he leaves these questions unanswered\, encouraging us to embrace the mystery\, interpret our own meanings\, and build personal connections with his imagined realm. Benincasa Reade is currently pursuing a BFA at Brooklyn College. He lives and works in Brooklyn\, NY. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTaylor Bielecki’s artwork is influenced by cinema\, bringing the viewers into scenes often distorted by rain\, light\, or at street level. She also self publishes her own flash fiction art book series depicting the “before” or “after” scenes of her paintings\, to further her study of how to merge cinema and painting on the canvas. Bielecki was a finalist in the Kennedy Center’s VSA National Emerging Young Artist program for 2017; where she earned an Award of Excellence. She has shown throughout Chester County and Penn State in Pennsylvania\, and has shown prints internationally in a print exchange in Australia and exhibitions in Dubai\, India and the Glasgow School of Art. She has also shown paintings internationally in Gallery 24N\, PhilaMOCA’s juried exhibitions in Philadelphia\, PA\, and she finished with an Award of Distinction in Creative York’s Emerging Visions national juried exhibition in York\, PA\, in 2018. Bielecki holds a BA and BFA from Penn State and an MFA from Pratt Institute. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn\, NY. \nArabela Gandy creates ethereal oil paintings\, murals\, and hand-painted fashion accessories that capture the beauty of everyday moments\, blending contemporary style with timeless elegance. After attending the Massachusetts College of Art and Design\, Gandy transitioned to pursue alternative opportunities in the Boston art scene before gaining recognition for her expressive works. In 2019\, Gandy was commissioned by the North Shore Community Development Coalition to design a public mural for The Punto Urban Art Museum in Salem\, MA. By 2020\, she relocated to New York\, where she expanded her practice to include commissioned works for notable clients such as Outback Steakhouse and Stellar Snacks. Gandy’s achievements include receiving the 2024 Charlotte Mouquin Rising Star Award and the 2023 Artist Support Fund Grant from the Arts Council of Rockland. She has exhibited in group shows across New York and Boston and currently lives and works in Nyack\, NY. \nEvan Jorgensen is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work transforms the visions of his everyday life through photographs and paintings. By interrupting the inkjet printing process—known for its speed\, consistency\, and precision—he creates wet\, tactile impressions that defy conventional expectations of photography. Rather than discarding these imperfect outcomes\, Jorgensen brushes and reprints them\, inviting viewers to reexamine the image and blur the boundaries between photograph and painting. Through this process\, he explores fundamental questions about medium and materiality in photography. Since earning his BFA in Photography from Pratt Institute in 2016\, Jorgensen has exhibited across the United States and internationally\, with recent shows in New York\, Connecticut\, and Ireland. His practice also includes self-publishing books\, and in 2019\, his photographs were featured in Aint-Bad. \nJosh Paige is a Brooklyn artist whose work is deeply influenced by the textures and elements of his hometown. From paint spills to graffiti\, these urban features find their way into his paintings\, collage\, and sculpture. His work often explores the relationship between human consciousness\, spirituality and sense of self. Drawing on a variety of mediums to bring his visual ideas to life. Paige’s art has been featured in numerous group shows. He has been published in Aspen Art Museum Magazine and he has collaborated with various brands\, including LVMH\, Saks Fifth Avenue\, and Anthropologie. Whether creating installation art or working on set design\, Paige brings his unique artist vision to every aspect of his work. He believes that art can provide context and community while evoking powerful emotional responses from viewers. Paige holds a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nKarin Yamamoto\, a Queens-based painter whose works are often interior scenes of her surroundings\, which focus on color\, light\, and spatial relationships. Yamamoto\, a native of Japan\, moved to New York City to pursue an education in the arts and received a BFA from SUNY Purchase College. She has exhibited throughout the New York area and is a member of the Japanese Artists Association of New York (JAANY)\, participating in the group’s annual exhibition at the Tenri Cultural Institute of New York every September since 2022. In 2013\, she was commissioned by Steinway & Sons to design and paint a custom-made piano for the Hand in Hand Charity Concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center. In 2020\, she was selected as a winner of the Web Art Exhibition “Forward Together!” organized by The Nippon Club and received the special Ambassador Yamanouchi Award. In 2024\, her work was chosen for the School of Visual Arts Continuing Education program’s Summer 2024 Showcase at SVA’s Flatiron Project Space. \nTitle: EMERGING VISIONS \nLocation: 90 N. Broadway\, Nyack NY \nOn view: February 1 – March 16\, 2025 \nHours: Friday-Sunday\, 12-5 PM and by appt. \nReception: Saturday\, February 2-4 PM \n  \nFounded in 2023\, Perry Lawson Fine Art is a contemporary art gallery and consultancy based in a historic house in downtown Nyack\, NY\, about 20 miles north of New York City. SUMMARY:Perry Lawson Fine Art Presents: LAYERS IN MOTION
DESCRIPTION:Presenting LAYERS IN MOTION: Alyce Gottesman\, Lotte Petricone\, Mary Ann Strandell\, opening FRIDAY\, AUGUST 9\, 2024\, 6-8 PM.  \n  \n(Nyack\, NY – July 1\, 2024) Perry Lawson Fine Art is pleased to present Layers in Motion\, on view at 90 North Broadway\, Nyack\, NY\, from August 9 through September 29\, 2024. The exhibition features artwork by Alyce Gottesman\, Lotte Petricone\, and Mary Ann Strandell\, all of whom employ layering techniques in their work to different effects.  \nAlyce Gottesman’s paintings are rooted in nature\, inspired by her upbringing beside a lake in rural New Jersey. There she developed a deep connection to the rhythms of seasons and the vitality of nature. Later\, living in California\, she was captivated by the unique quality of light. She now spends several months each year there to immerse herself in its beauty and inspiration. Music also plays a significant role in Gottesman’s creative process\, influencing the rhythms\, colors\, and patterns in her paintings. She describes her approach as both experiential and experimental\, embracing spontaneity and improvisation. Working on multiple pieces simultaneously\, she engages in a dynamic interplay of drawing\, dripping\, and brushing paint until each canvas captures a moment of action and unpredictability. \nGottesman holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts. Her work has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the Northeast\, including The Painting Center and Cheryl Hazan Gallery in New York City\, as well as at venues in New Jersey\, such as Drawing Rooms and Paul Robeson Center for the Arts. Her artworks are held in esteemed private and public collections\, including the Brooklyn Art Library and the College of NJ. \nLotte Petricone’s artistic process for her recent paintings begins with drawing from print images and progresses with deliberate painting and meticulous attention to detail. The interplay of color\, value\, and texture creates a sense of space and movement throughout the image\, while the coexistence of the drawn shapes and the negative space around and between them\, occupied by patterns and textures in translucent layers\, contributes to the visual balance. The result is a visual image that unifies seemingly disconnected elements into a cohesive whole\, inviting the viewer to enter and respond to the constructed world. \nPetricone grew up in New York City and earned a BFA from The Cooper Union School of Art\, an MA in Art Education from Manhattanville College and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Leadership from SUNY New Paltz. Her work has been exhibited in the tri-state area\, including the Painting Center NYC\, the 2018 ArtsWestchester Triennial\, Rockland Center for the Arts and the Edward Hopper House Museum. Lotte lives and works in Nyack\, NY. \nMary Ann Strandell’s work explores the intersection of nature and technology in our society. By combining various places and objects as visual symbols\, she considers the convergence of historic space between the baroque\, modernism\, and the post-modern. Her imagery stems from canyon sites in the Southwest\, urban construction sites\, architecture\, nature\, and historic museum objects. Strandell uses drawing\, painting\, and 3D lenticular media to explore these subjects. The works begin as paintings and evolve into multi-layered lenticular montages through the use of sophisticated computer software. \nBorn in Watertown\, SD\, Strandell holds a BFA in Fine Arts and Art History from the University of South Dakota\, an MA in Studio Art and an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from the University of New Mexico\, Albuquerque. She is the recipient of prestigious awards\, including an individual National Endowment for Arts in Painting Arts Midwest\, an Arts and Humanities Grant\, and a Geraldine R. Dodge Fellowship Grant. Her residencies include the Institute Electronic Arts\, Alfred University\, NY\, Art Omi International\, The Bemis Center For Contemporary Art\, Byrdcliffe Woodstock\, and The Menaul School (Albuquerque\, NM). Strandell has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. Her work is held in important public collections\, including the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art\, the DiRosa Foundation\, and the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. In 2020-21\, she was commissioned by UBER Corporation and Children’s Mercy Hospital for site-specific artworks. Major publications that have featured Strandell’s work include The New Yorker\, The New York Times\, and The Village Voice. She lives and works in the New York City area. \n  \nTitle: LAYERS IN MOTION \nOn view: August 9 – September 29\, 2024   \nReception: Friday\, August 9\, 6-8 PM  \nCoffee & Conversation (artist talk): Saturday\, September 7\, 2024\, 11 AM  \nLocation: 90 N. SUMMARY:RoCA – 3 Fall Exhibits – Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:UPCOMING SEPTEMBER EXHIBITS\nSeptember 7 – 28\, 2023\nOpening Reception:  September 9th\, 1:00-4:00pm\nFree to the Public\nContemporary Rockland Artists: RoCA Faculty\nEmerson Gallery\nRoCA celebrates its teaching artists who continually inspire students of all ages and skill levels.  The exceptional faculty actively creates\, teaches and exhibits throughout the Hudson Valley\, and all fifty United States.  They are award-winning artists\, professors\, grant recipients\, and artists in residents who share their knowledge and talent with RoCA students. We are proud to showcase these accomplished teachers.\nAbandon Places\nGallery One\nK. Elevitch (she/they) builds on the themes of Abandon Places: Sights Stories and Sound. What is the feeling of home? What marks does it leave? Is home created outside us or from within? These are just some of the questions Nyack\, NY based K. Elevitch explores in this exhibit. Interdisciplinary storytelling\, songwriting\, improvisational performance\, sound design and multi-media installation art. Elevitch turns inside out the process of (be)coming home – both of self and art – revealing quiet yet powerful worlds of universal human being-ness: Intimate glimpses of longing\, isolation\, connection\, freedom\, love.\nThis project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program\, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by ArtsWestchester.”\nPerfectly Imperfect\n Gallery Two\nRoCA’s ceramic students create work inspired by a rare Korean treasure – the ‘Moon Jar’.  Originally created during the latter years of Korea’s Joseon dynasty (1392-1910)\, Moon Jars are primarily white porcelain vessels created from two hemispherical halves\, joined together to form a spherical hollow vessel resembling a full moon.  The imperfect nature of the Moon Jars makes them distinct and uniquely Korean\, as no two jars are exactly alike.  While the moon may or may not be referenced\, the original concept from the Korean culture and                                                                      tradition is revered and respected.\n

Auer showcases her process of planning a painting around a specific color and creating a visual path through it. \nAuer received her BFA in Jewelry and Silversmithing from SUNY New Paltz and started her own business painting children’s clothes and murals. This led to creating The Art \nStudio\, a business teaching drawing and painting to children and adults for over 20 years in Highland Mills\, NY.
