DESCRIPTION:Hollis Brown’s latest album\, In The Aftermath (Mascot Label Group/Cool Green Recordings)\, is the deliciously depraved outcome of an all-night rock n’ roll riot. The Queens\, New York-based quintet escaped to the Poconos to record with a few handles of whiskey\, and\, in one 24-hour session\, ran down the Stone’s seminal first album of all originals\, 1966’s Aftermath. Tracked live in the studio with minimal overdubs\, In The Aftermath is potent proof the five-piece group is one of the last great American rock n’ roll bands. \n“IIn The Aftermath is the second in a casual homage series. Previously\, Hollis Brown issued\, Gets Loaded\, saluting Velvet Underground’s Loaded. This new album directly follows the band’s most successful release yet\, 2019’s Ozone Park\, which earned rave reviews from Rolling Stone\, Billboard\, Paste Magazine\, Pop Matters\, Relix\, and Goldmine. \nHollis Brown formed in 2009\, in Queens\, New York\, and came together around best buds\, singer-guitarist Mike Montali and lead guitarist Jonathan Bonilla. The guys pinched the band name from the Bob Dylan song\, “Ballad of Hollis Brown\,” and its moniker neatly epitomizes the group’s commitment to melding a signature Americana blend with fine songcraft. These days the band is rounded out by Andrew Zehnal (drums) and Chris Urriola (bass). To date\, Hollis Brown has released an EP\, three original albums\, and the aforementioned Record Store Day tribute to the Velvet Underground’s Loaded album. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBruce T. Carroll\nWith the release of First Bird To Sing\,  Bruce T Carroll has continued to carve out a niche for himself as an Americana artist with a social conscience and a deft lyrical touch. \nHe spent fourteen years (1999-2013) operating the legendary Larchmont\, NY music venue The Watercolor Café\, where he presented regional and national acts of as well as new and undiscovered acts that soon broke upon the national scene. DESCRIPTION:MUSIC AT SUGAR POND\, a new concert series featuring International Recording Artist \nAnnie Sumi with Hastings’ own Adam Hart opening. Adam will perform a set for kids big and small. \nFriday\, August 12th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM \nSugar Pond is an actual pond adjacent to Hillside Elementary School. \n  \nAlthough admission to the park is free\, your donations are graciously accepted. We ask that you donate $20 per family. Performers will receive 90% of the donations and the rest will cover production costs. Any remaining funds will be given to the Conservation Commission to support restoration efforts in Hastings-on-Hudson. \n  \nAnnie Sumi is an ethereal-folk artist from Canada. Her music is intimate and expansive\, inviting the listener into a familiar otherworld. Inspired by the mirrored relationship between physical and emotional landscapes\, Annie’s music speaks of the human experience through the language of the senses. She has been nominated as ‘Emerging Artist’\, ‘Female Vocalist\,’ and ‘Songwriter of the Year\,’ and her music is played on national (US and Canada) and international radio. It’s not just the beauty of her voice and her music\, not just the charm of her onstage presence that makes her something special. Join PHM for a socially distant history hike of Arnold’s escape path through present day Garrison\, NY. Along the way we’ll discuss why the General was driven to betray the Revolution and how prominent local landowner Beverly Robinson aided Arnold’s mission. \nThis history hike includes scenic views of the Hudson River and West Point and will last approximately one hour. Travel with us back in time as we explore Fahnestock State Park on foot while we learn its history through the many artifacts that still exist in the park as remnants of the past. \nWe will discuss Native American history\, the American Revolution\, the discovery of iron within the park\, the role the mines played during the Civil War\, Odelltown and Dennytown\, the last ditch effort to revive iron mining at Fahnestock in the 1890s by Thomas Edison\, and the purchase and acquisition of the land as part of the Fahnestock Estate\, and lastly the bequeathing of the land by Ernest Fahnestock to Governor Franklin Roosevelt and New York State\, to be made into a park memorializing his brother Clarence in perpetuity. By the 1930s Roosevelt was President and Fahnestock was a target of his New Deal. Members of the CCC or Civilian Conservation Corps built roads\, trails\, and even a lake during this era. A Boy Scout camp was constructed and there was even a rest camp for British sailors during WW2. \nJoin us on a fine Spring day to hike the 8 ½ miles of Sunk Mine Road (with a few detours).
