SUMMARY:Hudson Chorale Concert: Hensel\, Vivaldi\, Mozart
DESCRIPTION:Hudson Chorale Concert: Hensel\, Vivaldi\, Mozart   \n“What is a human?” Come hear Hudson Chorale give Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s answer in a performance of her sublime cantata Hiob\, with text from The Book of Job. This work has been all but silenced for two centuries by the prominence of her famous brother. We delight in contributing to Hensel’s long overdue appreciation as a major artist of the nineteenth century. \nDue to happenstance in choral history\, Vivaldi’s Gloria (RV 588) is not as frequently performed as the ever-popular (RV 589)\, but it is every bit as vibrant and wonderful. \nAnd come to hear the exquisite melodies and exciting fugues of Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessore (“Solemn Vespers”)\, a work whose intricate and profound beauties have been recognized and beloved since its creation in 1780. \nHudson Chorale\, under the baton of Artistic Director David Baranowski\, will perform with orchestra and soloists Francesca Federico\, soprano; Allison Gish\, contralto; Joseph Klebanoff\, tenor; Richard Lippold\, bass. \nThe concerts will be on Saturday\, June 8 and Sunday\, June 9 at 3pm at Irvington Presbyterian Church\, 25 North Broadway\, Irvington\, NY 10533 \nTickets can be purchased for $30 each from members of the Hudson Chorale\, or through https://bit.ly/juneconcert \nFor further information\, please visit www.HudsonChorale.org or email us at info@hudsonchorale.org \nHudson Chorale is grateful to the New York State Council on the Arts\, the Westchester Community Foundation\, and Arts Westchester which awarded us funds to support our work and community outreach this year.

SUMMARY:NY OPERA CONSERVATORY: FREE July-August 2024 Summer Concert Series – Croton Free Library
DESCRIPTION:The Taconic Opera summer program for emerging opera singers\, New York Opera Conservatory (NYOC)\, offers you an opportunity to hear the upcoming generation of professionally trained singers as they gain valuable experience perfecting their craft in a leading role. Established in 2018\, the NYOC helps to fill an unmet need among trained singers to gain hands-on experience through actual performance. \nEach event in the series listed below – one tragedy and one comedy – will have a different cast\, making every performance completely unique from all the others!  Each performance includes the complete opera and is semi-staged (costumes\, props). \nJuly Opera:  Il Trovatore – Verdi \nVerdi’s turbulent tragedy is a mainstay of the operatic repertory. The score is both dark and energetic\, with infectious tunes that are not easily forgotten. Set in the turbulent Middle Ages\, the story is about a count seeking revenge for the murder of his brother by the gypsy girl Azucena\, who just happens to have raised the Count’s arch-enemy Manrico. This opera features the playful Anvil Chorus and the rousing tenor aria Di quella pira\, a favorite in concert performances by Pavarotti\, Domingo\, et al. Sung in Italian. \nDates:  Wednesday\, July 3\, 7:00 pm \nFriday\, July 5\, 7:00 pm \nSaturday\, July 6\, 7:00 pm \nSunday\, July 7\, 3:00 pm \n  \nAugust Opera: Dona Pasquale – Donizetti \nThe second opera performed as part of the NYOC summer series is Donizetti’s hilarious comedy\, Don Pasquale. A bumbling buffoon is taught a life lesson as he is tricked into a fake marriage with a young woman who turns into a demanding shrew. Taconic Opera’s favorite hilarious mainstage buffo\, Jorge Ocasio\, joins the Conservatory’s young cast to sing the title role. Sung in Italian. \nDates:  Wednesday\, August 7\, 7:00 pm \nFriday\, August 9\, 7:00 pm \nSaturday\, August 10\, 7:00 pm \nSunday\, August 11\, 3:00 pm \nLocation:  Croton Free Library \n171 Cleveland Drive \nCroton-on-Hudson\, NY \n  \nFee:  FREE \nFor information about becoming a student in the NY Opera Conservatory\, visit the Conservatory website: https://www.newyorkoperaconservatory.com/ \nFor general information about Taconic Opera and NY Opera Conservatory events\, visit the website: https://taconicopera.org/ \nSocial Media: \nhttps://www.facebook.com/taconicopera/ \n@TaconicOpera \nhttps://www.instagram.com/taconicopera/ \n  \n
