He\ncurrently performs with the Afro-Cuban band Mafimba and is also the host of\na Latin jazz radio show on Sunday afternoons at WBAI Pacifica Radio (99.5\nFM) called the New World Gallery. Alvarez is also a graphic artist and has\ndesigned album covers for various Latin music labels over the years.\nAlvarez is the recipient of an award from the National Federation of\nCommunity Broadcasters and has interviewed famous artists such as Dizzy\nGillespie and Tito Puente.

Or\nthat she writes memorable songs that make you want to listen again and\nagain and again. Deni Bonet is\, simply\, a musical total package. Her music\nhas been featured on HBO\, NBC\, American Airlines\, and several films. She\nwas recently honored to be awarded a grant through the Arts Envoy Program\nof the US Government to spend a month on a residency in Africa teaching\nviolin\, songwriting\, and rock n’ roll at a music college in Zanzibar.\nDeni Bonet’s talent\, combined with her boundless energy\, does not have a\nlimit. Dynamic and personable\, she makes a concert hall become intimate and\ncozy. He was also invited to give a solo recital performance as part\nof the Sparkill Recital Series in Sparkill New York during Spring 2022.\nLeo was raised in Cape Town and at 14 moved to Cleveland\, Ohio to further\nhis music studies with the Cleveland Institute of Music’s (CIM) prestigious\nYoung Artist’s Program under the tutelage of Kathryn Brown and Daniel\nShapiro. Here\, he was awarded First Prize in the 2017 CIM Preparatory\nConcerto Competition and the Suburban Symphony Orchestra’s Competition. He\nalso received the Grand Prize at the 2019 Baltimore International Piano\nFestival Competition\, which included a recital invitation at Weill Recital\nHall NY in Summer 2020.\nAdditionally\, in 2019\, his then chamber music group Arcus Trio was awarded\nthe Grand Prize and Junior Division Prize at the 6th Coltman Chamber Music\nCompetition\, which included an invitation to perform at the 37th Annual\nYoung Musicians Concert at Alice Tully Hall\, Lincoln Centre\, NY in Spring\n2020. They were also awarded 2nd Prize in the Junior Division in the WDAV\nYoung Chamber Music Competition and were semi-finalists at the 46th\nFischoff National Chamber Music Competition.\nHe gave his concerto debut at the age of 11. Subsequently\, he then went on\nto perform on multiple occasions with national\, regional and community\norchestras in South Africa until he departed for the USA in 2017. He has\nalso been a first prize winner at several prestigious national music\ncompetitions in South Africa – including the SAMRO Hubert van der Spuy and\nAtterbury national piano competitions.\nFrom the start of his musical career\, he has continuously been involved\nwith The Masidlale Strings Project: an outreach programme teaching violin\nto underprivileged children in the townships of South Africa. He has\ndonated a portion of his performance fees to Masidlale since he was 13\nyears old.\nWhen not at the piano\, he enjoys composing\, spending time in nature\, and\nfilms.
