What is the feeling of home? What marks does it leave? Is home created outside us or from within? These are just some of the questions Nyack\, NY based K. Elevitch explores in this exhibit. Interdisciplinary storytelling\, songwriting\, improvisational performance\, sound design and multi-media installation art. Elevitch turns inside out the process of (be)coming home – both of self and art – revealing quiet yet powerful worlds of universal human being-ness: Intimate glimpses of longing\, isolation\, connection\, freedom\, love.\nThis project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program\, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by ArtsWestchester.”\nPerfectly Imperfect\n Gallery Two\nRoCA’s ceramic students create work inspired by a rare Korean treasure – the ‘Moon Jar’.  Originally created during the latter years of Korea’s Joseon dynasty (1392-1910)\, Moon Jars are primarily white porcelain vessels created from two hemispherical halves\, joined together to form a spherical hollow vessel resembling a full moon.  The imperfect nature of the Moon Jars makes them distinct and uniquely Korean\, as no two jars are exactly alike.  While the moon may or may not be referenced\, the original concept from the Korean culture and                                                                      tradition is revered and respected.\n

SUMMARY:9th Annual Beethoven Festival - Yonkers Philharmonic
DESCRIPTION:The Yonkers Philharmonic’s 9th Beethoven Festival has a little something for everyone.  In honor of Woman’s History month\, Music Director Ari Rudiakov starts with  Overture No. 3 from 19th century Romantic German composer Emelie Mayer.  Of course there’s Beethoven\, his Fidelio Overture and his Triple Concerto for Violin\, Cello and Piano with soloists Carmit Zori\, Gjilberta Lucaj-Cohen and Robert Feritta.  In between you’ll be dancing in your seats along with Brahms’ Hungarian Dances No. 1 and 5.  These lively dance tunes based mostly on Hungarian themes\,  are among Brahms’s most popular works.  Tucked in the middle is the WORLD PREMIERE of LvB: Variations\, Extensions and Collisions written by living composer Thomas Caprino at the request of our music director. All are welcome to this free celebration.  Come for the first half to experience the past and future of classical music and stay for the second half to hear Beethoven’s only concerto ever completed for more than one solo instrument. \n  \nThis concert was made possible by the Westchester Community Foundation\, a division of The New York Community Trust.
