SUMMARY:Revolution on the Hudson!
DESCRIPTION:Revolution on the Hudson! Brings History to Life \nFree Event Features More than 100 Historic Reenactors\, Craftspeople\, Musicians\, Soldiers on Horseback\, Oxen Demonstrations and More \nOn Saturday\, November 9\, from 11:00am – 4:00pm\, the sounds of cannon fire and thundering hoofbeats from soldiers on horseback will bring history to life at Croton Point Park as “Revolution on the Hudson!” takes center stage. The free event\, produced by Revolutionary Westchester 250\, is designed to reignite interest in Westchester’s Revolutionary War history as the 250th Anniversary of American Independence approaches in 2026. \nVisitors of all ages will thrill to meet generals and spies\, soldiers and camp followers\, as they walk through British & Continental Army encampments. Famous figures including General George Washington\, Ben Franklin\, Benedict Arnold and Major André will be on hand. Visitors will witness saber drills from soldiers on horseback\, musket drills\, fife & drum performances\, and cannon demonstrations. The techniques of 18th Century medics will be on display\, along with cooking\, craft and blacksmithing demonstrations\, oxen demonstrations\, and more. Children will enjoy spy games and even a petting zoo area of farm animals. \nCroton Point Park is located adjacent to the Croton Harmon train station on Metro-North’s Hudson Line. Visitors arriving by train will enjoy free shuttle service from the station to Revolution on the Hudson! at Croton Point Park. There is also free parking at Croton Point Park for visitors arriving by car. On-site\, food trucks will offer a 21st century respite for hungry visitors\, who can picnic along the waterfront and take in the fall views of the Hudson Valley. \nRevolution on the Hudson! is supported by Westchester County\, the Village of Croton-on-Hudson\, the Croton Historical Society\, the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and donations to Revolutionary Westchester 250. Revolution on the Hudson! is a free event and advance tickets are not required. Our sale is fit for all ages\, and items are listed at prices that cannot be beat! \nWe will also have delicious homemade baked goods on sale (all safely wrapped) for you to enjoy after a successful shopping experience.

DESCRIPTION:Broadway comes to The Ark in Tarrytown on Nov. 17\, as Westchester’s newest performance venue hosts The Golden Ticket Series’ “Stephen Sondheim: An Afternoon of Song and Story.” \nBroadway Legend Jack Viertel delves into the history and song writing background of acclaimed lyricist and composer Stephen Sondheim\, while a live orchestra and a quartet of professional singers bring his most popular lyrics and music to life. Sondheim\, who died in 2021\, had an extraordinary career that includes some of the most iconic works of 20th-century musical theater\, including West Side Story; Gypsy; A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum; A Little Night Music; Sweeney Todd; Sunday in the Park with George; and Into the Woods\, among others. \nThe Ark is located within the Shames JCC on the Hudson\, at 371 South Broadway in Tarrytown\, immediately adjacent to the I-287/Route 9 Tarrytown Exit and is easily accessible by car or train. Stephen Sondheim: An Afternoon of Song and Story is scheduled for Sunday\, November 17 from 3:00pm – 4:30pm. Tickets are $50 for JCC Members and $60 for the general public.
