Revolutionary War Theme at Peekskill Museum
The Peekskill Museum will open to the public on Sunday, June 7 at 2 p.m. with a Revolutionary War theme.

Appearing in Continental Army uniform, John Testa will explain what it meant to be a soldier in Revolutionary War times. He will represent the 1st New York Regiment commanded by Gen. Alexander McDougall, who was in Peekskill at the time of the March 1777 events.

An exhibition featuring newly acquired documents and physical artifacts of the War of Independence will also be on display through the museum season. Bullets, cannon balls, an American musician's jacket, eating utensils are among the authentic relics in the museum collection. Visitors may also be able to trace their Revolutionary War ancestors from available lists.

John Curran, Peekskill Historian, will be on hand to interpret the new exhibit. He will also speak about his forth-coming, limited edition, 200-page, illustrated book, "The Attack at Peekskill by the British in 1777."

The museum is located at 124 Union Street in the restored Herrick House of 1875. It will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 - 3 p.m. Admission is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children. 914-736-0473.
