The Hudson River Museum, Yonkers, will hold a major symposium, 'Reconsidering the River' on Sunday, May 2 from 1-4:45 p.m. Guest Curator of the current exhibit, "Imaging the River," Amy Lipton will host a panel discussion and networking session for artists and river enthusiasts.
The symposium will explore the cross-pollination of ideas shared between artists, historians, scientists and activists when they discuss the presentation of the Hudson River in art and literature, and the science and activism bringing about the river's restoration.
1-3 p.m. - Panel Discussion
Moderated by Roger Panetta, PhD, Associate Professor and Chair of the History Department, Marymount College of Fordham University, the panel will include the artists Basia Irland, Robert Braine, Janice Gordon and Eve Andree Laramie. Science, environmentalism and literary perspectives will be added by David Rothenberg, Editor of Terra Nova Journal (MIT Press), Sidney Horenstein, American Museum of Natural History geologist, and Steve Stanne, naturalist for the Hudson River Estuary Program.

4-4:45 p.m. - River Artists Network
Networking opportunities for gallery owners, curator and artists whose works focus on the Hudson River. Established and emerging artists may register on the newly-established River Artists Registry, co-sponsored by The Hudson River Museum, Rivertown Arts Council and Wave Hill.
