Scenic Hudson's Great River Sweep Needs Volunteers
Annual Hudson River Cleanup Relies on Community Support
Individuals, civic or community groups, businesses and all others looking to get outside this spring and make a difference in our region are invited to join Scenic Hudson's Great River Sweep. The Saturday, April 17 Sunday, April 25, event unites hundreds of cities, towns and villages in cleaning up tons of litter along our American Heritage River.

The largest simultaneous environmental effort in the Hudson Valley, Great River Sweep relies on volunteers from the Adirondacks to Manhattan to continue its record of success. The 2003 effort featured:

- 5,800 participants
- 109 communities, including four new New York counties and two new states involved
- 70 tons of trashed appliances, old tires, cigarette butts, bottles, cans and other debris were removed
- 186 sites along the river being given a spring cleaning

Make a difference in one afternoon roll up your sleeves with your neighbors and Scenic Hudson and show pride in your community and the Hudson Valley. Participate in a cleanup or create one yourself.
